And the finalists are …

… the following solutions within two categories:

classical cloud

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services)
  • Heroku

modern hosting

  • Server4You
  • Dogado
  • Hostek
  • Vivio

The following solutions offers too many sticking points to be a real ootb cloud, some trappings are completely “NoGo”-Stopper.

nearly retired

  • jelastic (no external access in trial mode)
  • windows azure (customer obstacle)
  • oracle cloud (too many errors)
  • cloudbees (where is my mysql)
  • GAE (limitied java)
  • OpenShift (too many errors, sooo slow)

In the next weeks I will give the “nearly retired” a second chance via a possible customer support.

My way from cloudinfra to frontpage

Plenty of choices, plenty of possibilities not to come live with a railo/mysql/ and writable …/webroot.

Today I did not found an ootb-solution from “start here” to “”. Every Solution has it buckets of snares. One Solution did not allow external traffic in trial-mode, one did not complete my .war upload, another one through me in a maze of security-policies. Another did not offer mysql, the fourth one is paid-only …

So I have investigate a little bit more on this.

So far, here some shoot-outs:

heroku, aws, jelastic, cloudbees or …

… virtual root server?

Soo many smart out of the box solutions vs. complete nacked ssh -X. I’m totaly torned between. On the left side there is total freedom of everything but you have also care about everything – anti-ootb.

On the other side all the sweet IaaS, PaaS Solutions lures with so nice, smarts interfaces. You fear a wrong click will cost you 15+ Bucks/Month here an there … and yeah it’s worth every cent.

Wake up! Start only with traffic-flat, because you dont want to bleed for succes aka click-traffic.

So because I dont can’t decide, I will focuse on one ore two VPS and take my unix hacker sun glasses on, and try out 4 or 5 of the best cloud-of-the-box for my new cold fusion habitat & homeland evaluation story.

Do you know a kick-ass cloud or vps hoster for a restarting cold fusion sugar daddy w/o financial objectives – at least in the begining? Drop me a note about your xperience in coldfusion/railo hosting.

Finally sexy again

After starting my Enterprise-Engineering-Consultant Carreer with CFML, Coldfusion felt into a deep “dornroeschen” sleep. Allaire > Macromedia > Adobe vs. Bluedragon hold long time the Keep down to a forgotten Realm.

The smart guys round Railo kisses them frog-like-awake. And voilá runing on nearly all PaaS like cloudbees, jelastic, aws in nearly every servlet container (jetty, tomcat, weblogic and -sphere, etc.) this feels nearly just sexy like server-side-node.js I’ve dreamed in the last century a lot of.

So what can you expect? hm..
